The 19th and 20th century history course is taught by leading scholars in the field; the curriculum is exciting and wide-ranging, and develops students? historical skills, enhances an understanding of the past and develops students abilities to think and write critically and creatively; the course focuses on working with primary sources and discussions and debates about historical controversies; the course aims to teach the skills needed to become a journalist, with a strong, unashamed emphasis on developing practical skills; the course aims to meet the exacting standards of UK journalism?s training authority, and to this end students study a broad curriculum which emphasises practical journalism, but also covers the vital areas of media law, public affairs, shorthand and moral and ethical issues.
