The course enables students to look in depth at language; students cover 2 modules of English language alongside 2 modules from another subject area; students are introduced to the nuts and bolts of the language and key linguistic theories, as well as the stages of the historical development of the English language and its global position today; the course aims to teach the skills needed to become a journalist, with a strong, unashamed emphasis on developing practical skills; the course aims to meet the exacting standards of UK journalism?s training authority, and to this end students study a broad curriculum which emphasises practical journalism, but also covers the vital areas of media law, public affairs, shorthand and moral and ethical issues.
