Assessment method

ANCIENT HISTORY: Assessment in all three years is by coursework and examination. In most modules assessment in the first two years is based on 80% for exams and 20% for coursework. In the third year, assessment is based in most modules on 50% for exams and 50% for coursework. ARCHAEOLOGY: Though formal exams are an important part of this assessment, up to 50% of your marks are achievable through practical assignments and assessed course work including essays, projects and fieldwork notebooks. Each of the introductory modules is assessed at the end of the first year, though these marks do not count toward the final degree. Second- and final-year work is assessed at the end of each year and determines your final degree.
